The King of Tonewoods

Dalbergia nigra, commonly known as Brazilian Rosewood, is one of the most highly regarded and sought-after tonewoods in the world. Its tonal characteristics are legendary, offering powerful lows, clear and sparkling highs, and naturally rich, complex overtones with remarkable depth and resonance.

Beyond its exceptional tonal qualities, Brazilian Rosewood has fascinated guitar makers and collectors around the world for generations. Its unique grain patterns can range from deep chocolate brown to beautiful purple streaks, with every set displaying its own character and individuality.

With a wood like this, I believe very little explanation is actually necessary. The name Brazilian Rosewood itself carries a long history and speaks for much of its value.

One thing I would sincerely like to share with you is that I am fortunate to have a close relationship with a direct supplier in Brazil who operates both a sawmill and a collection of well-aged wood stock. They are a family business that has been passed down through several generations, with long-standing experience supplying high-quality tonewoods to professional guitar makers around the world.

Of course, valuable Brazilian Rosewood with this level of quality, history, and reliable sourcing is becoming increasingly scarce. None of us can really know how many more years these exceptional materials will remain available to us.

As a guitar maker myself, I personally understand what makes a great set of tonewood. I carefully select and inspect each set based on the experience of someone who actually builds guitars. I am therefore confident in standing behind the quality of every set I offer, with all selected sets meeting Master Grade standards, while still being offered at a reasonable price.

I encourage you to take a look at our Brazilian Rosewood collection and, most importantly, compare the quality and pricing with other sources for yourself. I believe the value of each set will become clear when you see it side by side.

I hope you enjoy building your guitar as much as I enjoy helping you find the right wood for it.

And if you are a collector, I would leave you with one simple thought:

“When you find your diamond, hold on to it. You never know how long it will be before you find another one like it.”

Good luck, and I hope you find the Brazilian Rosewood that is right for you.
