Golden Jackfruit Wood is a native Southeast Asian hardwood with a distinctive character. Its heartwood ranges from golden yellow to a warm honey-gold, becoming richer and more vibrant as the surface is carefully finished. For the luthier, however, the true fascination of jackfruit wood goes beyond its appearance—it lies in its surprisingly interesting acoustic potential.
Although its grain is not as fine and sharply defined as that of Spruce or Cedar, jackfruit wood possesses a well-balanced combination of density and hardness. When tested through tap tone, carefully selected pieces can produce a remarkably resonant response, with an impressive sense of vibration and sustain.
